Champion Announcement: Blue Beetle

Forge a tenuous alliance with Khaji-da, alien scarab and harbinger of destruction, as Jaime Reyes, otherwise known as the Blue Beetle.

Marksman Mode

Passive: Reach Directive -- Disrupt

Triggering one of Blue Beetle's basic skills enables Reach Directive for 6 seconds. Blue Beetle's next Basic Attack will deal up to 30 True Damage, dealing the most damage if your target has full health.

Q: Energy Cannon

Blue Beetle fires a shot of his Energy Cannon, dealing 70 Attack Damage to the first enemy it hits, then exploding to deal 50 Attack Damage to other nearby enemies.

W: Scarab Scanner

Blue Beetle launches a Scarab Scanner that flies to the target location, granting vision. After 30s, upon second activation or activating infiltrator mode the Scanner explodes and marks nearby enemies for up to 6s. Using a skill or basic attack on a marked enemy will consume the mark to deal damage as though the enemy was struck by Reach Directive.

E: Stick And Move

Blue Beetle dashes a fixed distance, during which he turns and fires up to 4 energy pulses at the closest enemies he is dashing away from. Each pulse deals 25 Attack Damage, which is reduced by 50% when hitting an enemy more than once.

R: Infiltrator Mode

Blue Beetle converts to Infiltrator Mode, becoming a melee attacker with different skills and gaining 20 Move Speed. Ranks in Infiltrator Mode increase the potency of all skills in that form, except for the passive.

Assassin Mode

Passive: Reach Directive -- Execute

Triggering one of Blue Beetle's basic skills enables Reach Directive for 6 seconds. Blue Beetle's next Basic Attack will deal up to 30 True Damage, dealing the most damage the less health your target has.

Q: Lethal Measures

Blue Beetle dashes to target enemy, dealing 75 Attack Damage and applying on-hit effects.

W: Hypersonics

Blue Beetle emits a hypersonic blast, Fearing drones and creatures, reducing enemy Champion's damage by 10% for 2s, and marking all targets for 6s. Using a skill or basic attack on a marked enemy will consume the mark to deal damage as though the enemy was struck by Reach Directive.

E: Mandible Taser

Blue Beetle attacks with his Mandible Taser, dealing 85 Attack Damage and reducing the target's Move Speed by 65% which diminishes over 3s.

R: Infiltrator Mode

Blue Beetle converts out of Infiltrator Mode, becoming a ranged attacker with a different set of skills.

MAPS & MODES

GOTHAM HEIGHTS

Blue Beetle in Gotham Heights

As Blue Beetle you have the mobility to seek and take-out enemy champions in the middle of Gotham Heights’ fog of war. Use Infiltrator Mode to track down and strike solo enemy targets, slowing them with Mandible Taser and leaping with Lethal Measures as they escape. If you find yourself in trouble, quickly change to Ranged form and use Stick and Move to get away, but remember that Infiltrator mode allows Blue Beetle to move faster.

When enemies are standing on their own Control Point, poke at them in Ranged form. If they’re low on health, switch to Infiltrator and secure a kill by leaping with Lethal Measures. Try to finish them fast, before taking much damage from the turret.

Contesting the Orbital Cannon is similar, stay in ranged form and maintain your distance while dealing damage as your frontline allies fight. If the enemy team gets to low health, you can switch to Infiltrator form and start taking them out fast.

COAST CITY

Blue Beetle can fight top solo or bottom with a teammate on Coast City. In either lane, Energy Cannon is efficient for harassing enemy champions and clearing drone waves. Make sure to land a basic attack after using each skill to get the damage from your passive.

The large urban jungle on Coast City will often result in the enemy team having two jungle champions, increasing the possibility of early surprise attacks in-lane. In scenarios like this, it can be worth saving Stick and Move to use as an escape, or proactively use Scarab Scanner to keep vision on approaches.

GOTHAM DIVIDED

Blue Beetle can fight solo mid and duo bottom on Gotham Divided. His versatility allows you to lane with Blasters, Controllers, or other Marksmen.

As with any Marksman, prioritize last-hitting enemy drones for maximum credit gain, and poke enemy champions if they get too close. Like when playing Blue Beetle on Coast City, it is ideal if you can save Stick and Move for escapes in the early match. If lacking cameras or just need additional vision into the jungle, Scarab Scanner can function has a useful compensation.
